Born on the 12th of September 1989, Andrew is the first of four children born to his father, Oliver Luck and mother, Kathy Luck. Though it’s unclear how Andrew got introduced to football, it definitely was easy as his father once played as a quarterback for NFL franchise, Houston Oilers. Due to the fact that his father worked as the General manager of two teams that played in the now-defunct NFL Europa which was widely known as the World League of American Football, Andrew lived in London and Frankfurt, where he embraced soccer and loved the game.

Stratford High School

In London, Andrew schooled at the American School in London and the Frankfurt International School in Frankfurt. When his father’s job brought Andrew and his siblings back to the US, he schooled at Stratford High School where he played American football. In 2008, Andrew graduated from high school and was one of the co-valedictorian in his graduating class. Recruiting ranking website, Rivals.com rated Andrew as a four-star recruit. In the 2008 class, Luck was ranked the fourth pro-style quarterback in the country. He also played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in 2008. Luck received several college scholarship offers but committed to Stanford University.

In his first year in college, Andrew was redshirted. In his sophomore year, he was named the team’s starting quarterback. He led his team to the Sun Bowl, which he didn’t feature in. At the end of his sophomore season of college, Luck was the top player in the Pac-10 in pass efficiency rating. In his third year of college, Andrew gathered media attention as a result of his top football skills. Luck led his team to 12 victories in 13 games and to the Orange Bowl which they won. For his performance, he was named the Orange Bowl MVP. He easily earned a spot in the All-Pac-10 First Team and was awarded the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year.

At the end of the 2010 season, Andrew was expected to forgo his two years of college eligibility and enter the NFL draft. He, however, decided to earn his degree and went on to play college football for another season. In his final season of college football, Andrew played in the 2012 Fiesta Bowl, which the Cardinals lost. He was named to the ESPN, Pro Football Weekly and Walter Camp First Team All America. Andrew Luck Professional/NFL Career, Achievements & Awards

Indianapolis Colts (2012–2018)

In April 2012, Luck became the fourth Stanford University player to be selected as the first pick in an NFL draft, after he was selected by the Indianapolis Colts as its first overall pick. In July 2012, he signed a $22 million rookie contract with the Colts. In his rookie season, he started all regular-season games for the Colts. He was named to the 2013 Pro Bowl. In the 2013 season, he played in fine form and was named to the 2014 Pro Bowl. In his 2014 season, Andrew once again was in top form. He received his third AFC Offensive Player of the week award. The colts made it through the AFC Divisional Round but lost in the AFC Championship. Andrew was once again named to the Pro Bowl.

In April 2016, the fifth-year option in Andrew’s contract was exercised and he signed a deal which will guarantee a payment of $16.55 million. He played in top form until November 2015, when he suffered a torn muscle in his abdomen and a lacerated kidney. He was out of action for the rest of the season and was ranked 92nd in the Top 100 NFL players of 2016. In June 2016, he became the highest-paid NFL player after he signed a $140 million contract which guaranteed $87 million. He received another AFC Offensive Player of the Week award. Andrew only missed one game in the season and was ranked the 51st top NFL player in the Top 100 NFL Players of 2017. He then has surgery to correct a shoulder issue at the end of the 2016 season.

Andrew’s 2017 season was blighted by injury as he could not play in the season due to various concerns regarding his shoulder injury. In the 2018 season, Andrew returned in top form, playing in his best form. He played the last game of his career in the AFC Divisional Round against the Kansas City Chiefs which they lost. He was named to the Pro Bowl and the Pro Football Writers Association awarded him the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award. In August 2018, Andrew who was then 29 years old, announced that he would retire citing recurrent injuries as a factor for his early retirement.
