Carson Wentz’s Childhood & Early Life

Wentz was born in Raliegh, North Carolina to his parents Doug Wentz and Cathy Domres. He has two siblings, both of whom are also boys called Duke Domres and Zach Wentz. Doug, his father, had a college career as a linebacker at Northern State, and these could be said to be where Carson developed his interest and passion for football and sports generally.

When Carson was three years old, his family moved to North Dakota. It was in this thriving state that Carson developed and honed his skills as a quarterback and a defensive back, playing football both in Century High School and making a career off it in college and professionally.

Carson Wentz’s American Football Career

College Career

Carson began his football career in college when he played for the University of North Dakota. He began redshirting as a freshman in the year 2012 and started as the backup quarterback to Brock Jenson. There, Wentz completed all of his passes (8 of them) for 93 yards and got his first touch down in relief of Jenson. Then he went on to finish his season.

In 2014, Wentz became the Bisons starting quarter during his junior year. Soon after, in 2015 he led North Dakota into a 15-1 record. Other victories were also in his pocket as he helped his team to get ahead.

He soon graduated from college, earning a degree in Physical and health education, with a GPA of 4.0. He was awarded the CoSIDA Academic All-American of the year for division 1 football.

Talks about NFL draft was underway as predictions about Wentz began to happen. It was soon predicted that he would be selected in the mid-first round of the draft. Wentz, however, surpassed all predictions as he became among the top 10 prospects. He became the 2nd overall selection of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Professional Career

Philadelphia Eagles (2016–date)

Wentz began his professional career in May 2016, signing a deal for Four years worth $26.68 million and a signing bonus package of $17 million with the Philadelphia Eagles. He became the Eagles starter and for the first season opener against the Cleveland Browns. During this game, he threw for 278 passing yards and two touchdowns leading to 29-10 score and victory to the Eagles. He and his team also won a 29-14 victory against the Chicago Bears in the second week.

At the beginning of the preseason, he suffered rib injury but had a full recovery to play with them at the beginning to the end of the season. He was named the Pepsi NFL rookie of the week, in the first week, and called the Offensive player of the week For NFC for his startling performance in the match with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2017, He and his team lead the Eagles to win their first Superbowl, Superbowl LII. This was a great victory in the history of the Eagles.

On June 6, 2019, Philadelphia Eagles had Wentz’s contract extended for four years through 2024. This contract was signed for $128 million with a guaranteed $107 million.

Carson Wentz’s Personal Life

  • Wentz got married to his girlfriend Madison Oberg on July 16, 2018, after dating for over a year. Wentz announced their engagement after the team’s victory in Superbowl game on February 6, 2018.
  • Wentz dated his high school sweetheart Melissa, but they broke up in 2017, due to unknown reasons. However, it seems the break-up was mutual.
  • Wentz is a lover of luxury cars with his garage littered with such beautiful rides as the Cadillac, Corvette, Lamborghini and Range Rover. He recently acquired a new toy (Lamborghini) worth $450,000.
  • He also has a luxury home in Philadelphia. The estate is estimated to be worth about $6 million.
  • Notwithstanding his success, Carson still loves to give back to his community. He is engaged in several charities and organizations.
  • He launched his foundation the AO1 Foundation, organizing a softball charity game for the foundation which raised over $800,000 as more than 25,000 of his fans attended the game.
