Born on 17th May 1985 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Matthew Ryan is the third of the four children born to his parents, Mrs Bernice Ryan and Mr Michael Ryan. Deciding to enter the 2008 NFL draft, he was the Atlanta Falcons third pick in the first round.
