Bradley Beal Childhood Story & Early Life

Born on the 28th of June 1993, Bradley Bean is one of five boys born to Booby and Besta Bean. Aside from a solid moral upbringing, his parents who were both athletes taught young Bradley how to play basketball. His mother, Besta Bean, specifically taught him how to shoot, while his father taught him how to keep his demeanour on the courts in check despite pressures of the game.

Bradley played football and basketball as a young boy but excelled more in football. However, when he got to college, he made the decision to focus on basketball. Aside from his parents, Bradley trained with his brothers. The five of them all played basketball together with his two younger brothers, Byron and Bryon acting as his opponents.

While at high school, Bradley began playing basketball actively. He played for the US U-17 team at the FIBA Under-17 World Championship held in 2010, which they won. Bradley was named the tournament MVP and named to the All-Tournament Team. Bradley continued in fine form throughout his senior year reaching an average of 32.5 points and 5.7 rebounds. For his performance, he was named Mr Show-Me Basketball and Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2011.

Bradley Beal College Career

After high school, Bradley played for the University of Florida, for just one season. In his first season and only season of college basketball, Bradley received SEC Freshman of the Week honours on six occasions. At the conclusion of the season, Bradley was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team and earned a place in the All-SEC selection first team. He also led his team to the final eight in the NCAA Championship, where they were defeated by Louisville.

Washington Wizards (2012–date)

In April 2012, Bradley announced that he’ll enter the 2012 NBA Draft. In the Draft, he was selected by the Washington Wizards as its third overall pick. After signing his rookie contract with the Wizards, Bradley played in fine form and was awarded the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month award in December 2012 and January 2013. He also played in the 2013 All-star weekend for the Rising star team. In April 2013, his rookie season was cut short by an injury in his right leg. After playing in just 56 games, Bradley’s performance earned in a place in the NBA All-Rookie first team and he finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting.

In his sophomore season, the 2013/14 season, Bradley was back in top form. In the All-star weekend, he finished in the runner-up spot in the  Three-Point Shootout. He further led his side to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005. In his 2014/15 season, he was out of action for the first nine games as a result of a fracture in his left wrist. After returning to play in November, he was on the sidelines again, thanks to injury in February. He went on to play in the semifinals of the Eastern Conference, where the Wizards lost to the Atlanta Hawks.

The 2015/16 was a very tough season for Bradley who had to deal with lots of injuries, which allowed play in just 55 games, the lowest in his career. In July 2016, the Wizards agreed to a contract extension with Bradley. He continued in top form during the season. He led the Wizards to the second round of the playoffs, where they had to play seven games before the Boston Celtics prevailed over the Wizards.

In November of the 2017/18 season, he became the youngest NBA player to reach 700 three-pointers. His top performance earned a place in the All-star game for the first time in his career. In the playoffs, the Wizards lost to the Toronto Raptors in the first round.

In the 2018/19 season, Bradley became the Wizards player with the most three-pointers. He also became the youngest NBA player to reach 900 three-pointers. He further was named to the 2019 All-star game. In April 2019, Bradley became the first Washington Wizards player to reach 2000 points, 400 assists and 400 rebounds in a season. He played in all 82 regular-season games for the second successive season.
