Kyrie Andrew Irving is one of three children born on March 23, 1992, to American parents Mr Drederick Irving and Mrs Elizabeth Irving. At age two, he moved to the United States where he was raised by his father and aunts after the death of his mother. Since he had a father who played basketball during his college years and also played games in the Adult-league, he began to grow interested in playing basketball; but in the NBA. After his scholarship to Boston University, he played in the Amateur Athletic Union for Road Runner.

Kyrie Irving High School Career

Before achieving his dream of playing in the NBA, Irving had played several games for some high school and college teams. He played first for Montclair Kimberley Academy in his novice years in high school where he won the New Jersey Prep ‘B’ state title. Soon after, he moved to St. Patrick High School since he felt the need for more challenge.

In 2009, he was included in the Nike Global Challenge where he guided the United States east to claim the tourney and was named the tourney’s Most Valuable Player. In 2010, Irving was listed in the 2010 Junior National Select Team at the 2010 Nike Hoop Summit as well as the 2010 McDonald’s All-American Game and Jordan Brand Classic, a tournament where he was announced co-MVP. Cleveland Cavaliers (2011–2017)

Irving decided publicly to enter the 2011 NBA draft whilst he forewent his three remaining years of eligibility and was picked as the first overall selection by the Cleveland Cavaliers. That season during the 2012 Rising Stars Challenge, Irving was announced the MVP and won the 2012 National Basketball Association Rookie of the Year Award. Prestigiously he was the only undisputed choice to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Few games into the 2012–13 NBA season, Irving sustained an injury and thereafter missed games for three weeks, after a premature return to the next game following the injury. On coming back, he marked his presence by becoming the youngest player in the history of the NBA to net 40 points. That season, he was selected to play in his first All-Star game and also took part in the Rising Stars Challenge once more. Irving also took part in the NBA Three-Point Shootout and triumphed.

In 2014, Kyrie Irving was chosen by fans and supporters to be the one starting in the point guard position for the Eastern Conference in the NBA All-Star game and was named the All-Star game MVP. That same year, he marked his first career triple-double with 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. 

In July 2014, Irving extended his contract for an additional five years with a fee worth $90 million with Cleveland Cavaliers. Along with his extension, LeBron James returned to the team as well as a transfer move for Kevin Love. At this, a new era began as they were forged the ‘Big Three’. Their era during the first part of the season was a mixture of success and failure, although the team recorded some success during the second half of the season. His presence in the ‘Big Three’ helped the team to get to the NBA Finals which they lost. Successfully starting the 2016–2017 season, Irving helped Cleveland Cavaliers win a lot of games while making several individual records, among which were setting new career records, season records and fixture records. In March 2017, he assisted Cleveland Cavaliers to set a season hallmark of having three-pointers on 25 occasions.

That season he asked Cleveland to sell him for the reason that he preferred being the centre of attraction of wherever team he’ll be rather than being overshadowed by another star, LeBron James who was at the time already regarded as the face of Basketball and one of the greatest players to play the game. Following his request, he was sold to Boston Celtics.

Boston Celtics (2017–2019)

He made his debut for Boston Celtics against his former team Cleveland Cavaliers, the first fixture of the season in which Celtics lost. As the season progressed, he helped his new team to win several games as he topped with points on a franchise level before suffering another break at the sidelines due to injury. In January 2019, against Golden State Warriors, Irving scored his eleventh double-double with points and assists, being the first for Boston Celtics since 1986–87. During the NBA playoffs, Irving made another career hallmark by having 11 assists in a play-off match. In July 2019, Irving decided to sign for Brooklyn Nets as a free agent, noting that he signed on a free transfer.

Brooklyn Nets (2019–present)

In October 2019, Irving made his debut for Brooklyn Nets and netted 50 points setting a record as the first NBA player to net 50 points at an initial appearance for a team and the 7th to score 50 points or more in just one match.
