Born February 14, 1987, on Valentine’s day, Edinson Roberto Cavani Gomez is the last of three sons born to his mother, Berta Gomez and father, Luis Cavani.

His father was a professional footballer, so it did not come as a surprise when all three of his sons decided to follow the same career path he did. Cavani’s developed a passion for football at a very tender age, and his father was always there, giving him tips and his unconditional support to help him thrive as a footballer.

Growing up in Salto, he usually played against older opponents as a kid, and even though they roughed him up, he kept playing against them, and this made him a better street footballer.

It was not long before he started playing in the Danubio Youth Team. His great performances with Danubio got him selected to play for his country in the South American Under 20 Youth Championship. Cavani excelled in the competition as the highest goal scorer with 7 goals in 9 matches, helping his team get to the semi-final. S.S.D. Palermo (2007–2011)

On the 11th of March, Cavani made his debut for Palermo in the Series A on the 21st of March against Florentina. He came on in the 55th minute and scored the equalizer 15 minutes later. By the 2008/2009 season, Cavani became a regular starter with the team, and he went on to score 14 goals and earned the nickname El Matador. He helped his club get European qualification and he was given a contract extension by June 2010, tying him to the club for another 4 years.

And although he missed a month of action because of a thigh injury, he still scored 25 goals across all competition and helped PSG beat Lyon with a brace in the 2-1 win of the final of the 2014 Coupe de la Ligue. By the 2014/2015 season, Cavani was instrumental to PSG securing all 3 domestic trophies and scoring 31 goals in all competition. 2015/2016 also saw Cavani and his teammates repeat the same feat, they won another domestic treble for the second season in a row.
