Harry Kane Childhood & Early Life

Born in Walthamstow on July 28, 1993, to his parents Pat Kane (father) and Kim Kane (mother), Harry Edward Kane grew up loving football just like every English youngster.

He schooled at Larkswood Academy in the English town of Chingford until he left in 2004. He went on to further his education at Chingford Foundation School.

As a young boy, Kane was already playing football for a club in his locality, Ridgeway Rovers. Kane has always been a fan of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. from his childhood. He attributes the love he has for the Spurs to his family who were all Spurs fans and growing up just 15 minutes from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Harry Kane Professional Football Career & Accomplishments

Tottenham Hotspur F.C. (2009–date)

Kane had a really slow start at the early stage of his career, after playing for a while at a local club, Ridgeway Rovers, Kane played for Arsenal Academy, at the age of eight. He was however dropped by the Academy after one season. Kane chubbiness and lack of athletics were the reasons he was dropped. Ex-Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger made a statement in 2015 citing his disappointment in Arsenal dropping Kane. Following the disappointment he suffered at Arsenal, he went on Tottenham Hotspur F.C. youth academy, where he was turned down. Kane had to return to Ridgeway Rovers.

At the age of 11, Kane moved on to Watford Academy where he was granted a six-week trial. During those six weeks, Kane managed to impress Tottenham scouts in a game against the Spurs, and he was welcomed back into the Spurs academy.

Though Kane was not exceptional in the early days of his career, he progressed on his skills as he grew. He played in various midfield positions and competed in various tournaments for the Spurs in Mexico and Switzerland. A year later Kane signed a scholarship contract with the Spurs in July 2009, he went in to sign his first professional contract with the Spurs. After signing his first professional contract, Kane was moved on loan to different clubs.

Leyton Orient F.C. (Loan 2011)

In January 2011, Kane was sent on loan to Leyton Orient where he spent the remainder of the 2010/11 season. At the end of the 2010/11 season, Kane played for the Spurs in the UEFA Europa League Qualifier.

Millwall F.C. (Loan 2012)

In December 2011, Kane was sent on loan again to Millwall F.C. where he helped the team rise in the table, away from the threat of relegation. As a result, he was awarded the Millwall F.C. Young Player of the Year Award for the 2011/12 season.

Norwich City F.C. (Loan 2012–2013)

In August 2012, Kane was sent on loan to Norwich City for the 2012/13 season, but four months from his recall date, Kane was recalled by Tottenham as a result of lack of attacking options.

Leicester City F.C. (Loan 2013)

Twenty days after Kane was recalled, he went on loan to Leicester City where he spent the rest of the season which ended his loan spells.

Back To The Spurs

Kane went on to record his first goal for the Spurs in a League tie match against Hull City in the 2013/14 season. In April 2014, he earned his first EPL start for Tottenham in a game against Sunderland.

Over the years Kane continued to improve in his skills and tackles, and such improvement didn’t go unnoticed. A month after being named the Premier League Player of the Month for the Month of January 2015, Kane signed a five-years and a half contract with the Spurs. He also went on to win the Premier League Player of the Month for February 2015. In April 2015, he captained his side for the first time in a match. He was included as one of the forwards in the Professional Footballers’ Association Team of the Year and also won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.

The next season, the 2015/16 season, Kane’s performance increased as well as his goal-scoring. He went on to top the league’s goal-scoring charts and won the Premier League Golden Boot, as well as earned a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

In December of the 2016/17 season, he signed a contract with the Spurs that will see him at the club till 2020. Kane was first invited to play for the English U-17 National side in January 2010 but couldn’t make it as a result of an illness. He was invited to the  2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, a tournament he featured in and was key to the English side. He also played in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He played for the U-21 team in the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualification rounds. He also went on to represent England in the tournament. Though Kane could switch allegiance to the Republic of Ireland, he opted to play for the English senior team. He played for the English senior side at the  UEFA Euro 2016, the 2018 World Cup and the inaugural 2019 UEFA Nations League.
