The 2020 ranking of the best goalkeepers in the world has been revealed, according to… well, SportyTell. It is public knowledge that the goalkeeping position is one which solidly remains the backbone of every successful football/soccer team. While a team can afford to play without an outfield player, the goalkeeping position has to be manned, no matter how many players are sent off.
This is evidenced, by what occurred in a 14th October 2006 EPL match between Chelsea and Reading, where the first-team goalkeeper, Petr Cech was replaced by Carlo Cudicini, after the former suffered a life-threatening head injury. Cudicini who became unconscious in that game later had to be replaced by defender and captain, John Terry. This speaks volumes about the importance of a goalkeeper in football.
In recent years, young and agile goalkeepers have emerged, which have added a dramatic turn to the reign of some of the goalkeeping veterans who have established themselves as the best goalkeepers in every soccer game.
We’ve reviewed and ranked the top-10 best goalkeepers in the world as of 2020, based on performances in recent times, prior to the suspension of football games globally. The names on the list will shock you. Find out for yourself.
