Looking for the fastest cars in the world? That’s a topic for serious debate since most decent car manufacturers keep on pushing through different barriers—the most recent being the 300 mph benchmark.

This is kind of crazy when you consider the fact that you can’t really hit two-thirds of that speed for more than a minute without getting into some serious trouble with the government of almost every country.

Nevertheless, reaching those blistering top speeds is still as vital as it is innovative. So let’s take a look at the makes and models of the world’s fastest cars below.

For a small Italian company, Pagani really held their own with the Huayra BC. This hypercar packs an exquisite design that was made to honor their very first customer.

The Pagani Huayra was designed to be as light as it is fast. That is why the chassis has a fine blend of carbon fiber and titanium. This lovely hypercar’s interior is made with fine leather and wood finishing that makes it classy and elegant. With a top speed of 236 mph, the Huayra takes the 10th spot on our list.

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph in 2.8 seconds
  • Top Speed: 245 mph (395 kmph)
  • Engine: 700 horsepower.

If you have seen the movie Furious 7, then you have already been introduced to this Arabian road beast. Produced by W Motors, the Lykan is the first supercar produced by the Arabian company. Moving from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 245 mph, the Lykan is definitely one of the fastest cars globally.

As if performance wasn’t enough, this supercar screams of luxury. Being the first supercar to have its headlights and a few other features adorned with over 400 diamonds and a gold stitched cabin to match. It is also one of the rarest cars on the planet, only 7 examples that have been produced to date. No wonder it has a $3.4 million price tag.

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.
  • Top Speed : 250 mph (400kmph)
  • Power : 1160 Horse Power

Those of us who enjoy reading on the Norse Mythology will tell you that the Valkyries were awesome women. And Aston Martin definitely chose a worthy name for their fastest car yet. The Valkyrie features a top speed of 250 miles per hour (400Kmph) with the same engine recovery feature used by Red bull Formula 1 drivers. This exciting feature gives you the feeling of driving a race car while swerving around on the streets.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie packs a super V12 engine with an 1160 horsepower output. Which is absolutely fantastic since most V12 engines don’t really pack that much power.

7. Mc Laren’s Speedtail

McLaren Speedtail

  • Acceleration : 0 – 186 mph in 12.8 seconds
  • Top Speed : 250 mph (402kmph)
  • Output : 1160 horsepower

Talk about an electric supercar that recharges itself on the move? That’s exactly what the Speedtail, which is McLaren’s most recent addition to their Ultimate Series can do. Streamlined to perfection, the Speedtail was to function with rear-facing cameras instead of side mirrors. Unlike its predecessor the F1, which was more compact, the Speedtail is of the same length as a full-sized sedan. This is actually due to its 3-seat layout, all of which adds to its already insane appearance.

6. Rimac Concept Two

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph in 1.85 seconds
  • Top Speed : 258 mph (412 kmph)

With a maximum distance of 402 miles before requiring a recharge shows that the Rimac C_Two can be driven really hard for an electric car. It takes just 1.85 seconds to rev up to 60 mph from 0 and a top speed of 258 mph thanks to its incredible 1914 horsepower engine.  The Rimac C_Two sure deserves the sixth spot on our list of the fastest cars in the world.

Only 150 examples of the C_Two will ever be produced, which already sold out at a $2 million starting price.

5. Bugatti Veyron Supersport

Bugatti Veyron Supersport

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph in 2.4 seconds
  • Top Speed: 267 mph (431 kph)
  • Output: 1200 horsepower

When the supercar giants Bugatti released the first example of the Veyron Supersport in 2011, it immediately claimed the record as the fastest car in the world. It was years later before Koenigsegg’s Agera RS officially beating the 268 mph benchmark by an extra 12mph.

Some reports actually show that Hennessy’s Venom GT was the first car to beat Bugatti by an extra 3mph, but it did not qualify for the world record since it had only 13 examples. So we’re sticking with the official record.

The German company has since closed production of the Veyron and all its variants after shipping out the 450th and final unit in 2014.

4. Hennessy Venom GT

Hennessy Venom GT

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph
  • Top Speed : 265 mph
  • Output : 1450 horsepower

The American company has been striving to hold the record of the fastest road-legal production vehicle in the world. And they actually did come very close to beating the Bugatti Veyron Supersport in 2013.

With a top speed of over 265 mph and a 1450 horsepower engine, the Venom GT sure deserves to take the 5th spot on our fastest cars list. The Venom GT is as rare as it gets with its class cars; only 25 customers were lucky enough to own one of this road beast.

3. Koenigsegg Agera RS

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph
  • Top Speed : 284.5 mph (457 kmph)
  • Output : 1176 horsepower

When the Agera RS was released, Koenigsegg called it the “Ultimate Track and Road Tool.” Which was no exaggeration, as it was the first car to beat Bugatti’s record of being the fastest car in the world. Well, that was before Bugatti tuned up the Chiron.

The body is as sleek as any other hypercar, with its synchro-helix doors that swing up in a rather unusual fashion. The interior is usually customized to the requirements of each customer. The dashboard is mainly carbon-fibre, but being more of a performance vehicle, there is nothing fancy about the dashboard. The Koenigsegg Agera RS has a starting price of $2.5 million.

2. SSC Tuatara

  • Acceleration: 0 – 60mph 2.5 seconds
  • Top Speed: 300 mph (482 kmph)
  • Output: 1350 horsepower

This long-awaited supercar was finally shipped to its first customer in the month of February. The American company first proposed the concept in 2011, yet it was not until 2018 that an actual model of the car was presented to the general public.

The body is made from carbon fiber and is flushed with aerodynamics. Which is no surprise since SSC did promise that the car will draw inspiration from the aerospace industry.

The Tuatara has 3 drive modes: The ‘track, sports, and lift modes. The sports and track modes lowers the ride height to 4.5 and 3.75 inches. While the ‘lift’ mode is designed for the regular roads, thus protecting the underbody from speedbumps. With a top speed of 300 mph, this road beast is definitely one of the fastest cars in the world.

1. Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+

  • Acceleration : 0 – 60 mph 2.4 seconds
  • Top Speed: 305mph (491 kmph)
  • Output: 1,574 horsepower

The first production road-legal hypercar to break the 300mph barrier. When the Bugatti Chiron was first produced, it had a really powerful 1479 horsepower engine, the company did limit its top speed to 261 mph. Which was 6mph less than it’s predecessor, the Veyron Supersport.

So the Volkswagen Group decided to do some tuning to unlock the Chiron’s true potential. By August 2019, the Chiron did reclaim the top spot as the fastest car on the planet. With the first prototype’s success, the German company is already in production, with the first examples already scheduled to be shipped to their owners sometime in 2020.
