Born on 3 August 1977 in San Mateo, California, as the only son of his father, Thomas Brady Sr. and mother, Galynn Patricia Brady, Tom Brady attended Junípero Serra High School and learnt football basics at its college.

Growing up, he admired veteran quarterback Joe Montana and made the star his idol. Initially not good enough to start games in high school, Tom strove to improve and to be observed by coaches. He made videotapes which he sent to colleges he considered attending. With time, his skills were noted and he began to be viewed as a football prospect.
