Justin Rose Childhood/Early Life

Justin Rose was born on July 30, 1980, in South Africa by English Parents Ken Rose (father) and Annie Rose(mother). When he was five, his parents moved to England where he played golf regularly at Tylney Park Golf Club. At the age of 11, Rose broke70. When he was 17, Rose competed in the Walker Cup.  He became known internationally at the 17, in the 1998 Open Championship.

Justin Rose Professional Career

Despite recording successes at an early age, Justin still struggled when he went professional. Rose career started picking up following the European Tour. Rose finished in the top -40 on the order of Merit. 

In 2002, Rose won hisfirst professional title in his country of birth, South Africa, the Dunhill Championship. Rose also won the Nashua Masters, also in South Africa, Crown Tournament on the Japanese Tour and Victor Chandler British Masters in the same year.

Rose claimed his PGA Tour card in 2003, despite not being a member after earning enough money. Rose performance was short of impressive, as a result, he slipped from no. 33 to 50 in the official World Golf Rankings.

In 2005, After his ranking continued to decline, Rose decided to quit the European Tour so as to concentrate on the PGA Tour. That decision still didn’t remedy his situation as his rankings continued to decline. In the middle of 2005, Rose had already fallen out of the World top 100. Rose eventually decided to return to the European Tour in August 2005. He also recorded his best performance of the year in the Buick Championship where he finished third. Rose also continued to record good result which helped him keep his PGA status. Rose finished 2nd in the Valero Texas Open, which earned him the 47th spot on the money list with $1.629 million in prize number.

In November of 2006, Rose claimed his first title in four years, the Australian Open.

Rose also finished in the top 5 in the 2007 Masters. His newfound success saw his world rankings move up to no. 26 in April 2007. Despite losing at the 2007 BMW PGA Championship Rose, moved up to the no. 20 spot on the Official World Rankings. In October 2007, Rose ranking increased to the no. 12 spot making him British top-ranked golfer. Rose claimed the 2007 European Tour Order of Merit title, this pushed his ranking to the no. 7 spot making him Europe’s top-ranked golfer.

Rose emerged third at the 2010 Honda Classic and then went on to win the Memorial Tournament. Rose tried to qualify for the U.S Open but did not qualify. Rose still continued with his impressive form despite failing to win the Travelers Championship, he eventually claimed his second PGA Tour event, which was the AT&T Tournament.

In March 2011, Rose fell five shots behind the champion to add to his PGA Tour titles at the Transitions Championship. In the same year, Rose claimed the BMW Championship, his first title of the Year and his third PGA Title success.

Rose clinched his first World Golf Championship title in 2012, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, beating the first runner-up Bubba Watson by a single stroke. The win returned Rose to the top-10 spot, precisely no. 7. Rose also contributed to the success of Team Europe in the 2012 Ryder Cup. In October 2012, he won the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final. Rose emerged second to Tiger Wood at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In 2013, Rose won his first major title, the US Open, making him the first Englishman in 43 years to claim the title. The tournament moved Rose’s ranking to the no. 3 spot.

In 2014, he won the Quicken Loans National. Rose also contributed to Europe’s success in the 2014 Ryder Cup.

He finished in a tie for second place in the 2015 Masters Tournaments. He also won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in the same Year, marking his seventh PGA Tour win. His UBS Hong Kong Open title in October 2015 marked his Eighth European title.

After putting up an outstanding performance at the 2016 Olympics, Rose was awarded the gold medal, which he wore at The Barclays. Rose also claimed the 2016 Open Championship. Rose also qualified Team Europe to 2016 Ryder Cup.

In his 2017 campaign, he claimed his second World Golf Championship title, WGC-HSBC Champions, as well as the Turkish Airline Open.

He was unveiled as the official Host of the 2018 BritishOpen in December 2017.

In May of 2018, he added another title to his name, the Fort Worth Invitational, he also went on to emerge second place at the Dell Technologies Championship while he lost in the playoffs at the BMW Championship. This significant efforts from Rose helped catapult him to the number 1 position in the Official World Golf Ranking. Rose cemented his reputation as world number one when he won the FedEx Cup along with $10,000,000.

Once again, Justin was a key member in TeamEurope Contingent to the 2018 Ryder Cup. In November 2018, Justin defended his Turkish Airline Open title. His success saw him return to the number one spot along with $1,166,660 for his win.

Justin Rose Personal Life

Rose was born in South Africa but relocated to England at the age of 5. He gained international recognition at the age of 17 at the 1998 Open championship.

He got married to Kate Phillips in 2006. They both have two kids, Leo and Charlotte Rose.

He was awarded an MBE in 2006.

Rose has two siblings, his brother, Brandon Harcus and sister, Margi North. Rose had a tight knitted relationship with his father, Ken, who coached him until he died of leukaemia in 2002.

Outside golf, Rose has interests in tennis, football as well as cars. Rose also claims to be an avid Chelsea fan. Rose has a foundation named the Kate and Justin Rose foundation. The foundation is aimed at helping underprivileged kids.
