In May 2013, Alexis Kaufman penned down a contract with the WWE and reported to its developmental territory, NXT, under the stage name, Alexa Bliss. She debuted a year later against Alicia Fox in the May 8 episode of the NXT, competing for the NXT Women’s Championship, which she lost in the semi-finals. After a severe injury, Bliss returned on March 11, 2015, NXT episode, where she defeated Carmella.

SmackDown Women’s Champion 

In July 2016, Kaufman earned a draft to feature in the SmackDown brand. She debuted in the main roster on July 26, episode of SmackDown Live in a section concerning the brand’s women’s division and defeated Becky Lynch in August.

After suffering defeat in a six-pack elimination challenge to determine the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion, and a challenge for the title against Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss finally became the SmackDown Women’s Champion at the Tables, Ladders & Chairs (TLC) event on December 4, 2016.
