Julio Jones Childhood & Early Life
Julio was birthed on the 8th of February 1989 in a small town called Foley, close to Baldwin County in the state of Alabama. His father left them when he was only five years old, making his mother, Queen Marvis, the sole protector and provider for the family. Julio has an elder brother Philip, and growing up together both of them were very close, even till now Philip still shows up for many of his games.
Julio’s mother worked at a restaurant to provide for her family. When Queen was still pregnant with Julio, the doctors told her it was going to be a girl, this is why she named her baby Quintoris meaning ‘Gladiator’ even before she gave birth to him. When she found out it was a boy, she still maintained the name for him but later nicknamed him ‘Julio’. while Quintoris was in 7th grade. Queen was very strict with her sons, this was because their neighbourhood in which he grew up was violent, and she didn’t want them to get involved with all the violence there.
Julio attended Foley Highschool, and there he showed he was born to be an athlete, participating in more than three sports at a time and excelling tremendously in all of them and left no room for doubt. Julio participated in basketball, football, long jump, high jump, sprint, and also the triple jump in high school. He was a starter in his basketball team, a wide receiver and defensive tackle for his football team. His school went to the Alabama Championship and he was the champion in the high jump and jong jump in 2006–2007 consecutively (two years). He won the Mr. Alabama in track and field event of 2007. Julio Jones College Career
Julio Jones started as a wide receiver during his freshmen year in College. He was the very first freshman in Crisom trades history to start as a wide receiver and as a season opener. He became a player making great impressions, touching the hearts of fans and players alike, he had 58 receptions, 4 touchdowns, and 142 yards earning him the Second Team All-Freshmen of the year and the SEC Coaches all Second Team.
Julio didn’t stay long in the Crisom Trades as at the end of his Junior year he made an announcement for the NFL. He Passed his NFL combine as the third fastest 40-yard receiver of all the wide receivers present notwithstanding the broken bone he suffered on his foot. Jones signed a four-year contract of $16.2 million guaranteed with the Atlanta Falcons. He had also extended his contract for 5 more years for $71.5 million in 2016. Although he is just over two years into that contract, there are talks about reviewing the contract and increasing the payment for the wide receiver, just like that of Antonio Brown that was considered. Although nothing has yet been done to renew, Falcons manager, Dimitroff, has shown confidence that this would soon happen. There is very little that is known about the personal life of Jones. All his social media accounts are filled with pictures of his games and also inspirational quotes.
