Robert Lewandowski Childhood/Early Life & Family Background
One of two children born on 21 August 1988 to his father Krzysztof Lewandowski and mother Iwona Lewandowski, Robert Lewandowski was raised in a traditional Catholic household which had a vast interest in sports. His father and mother had been involved in sports so it was no surprise that from an early age, young Robert Lewandowski’s interest in sports was sparked. His father upon noticing his son’s interest in sports, began taking him to the training session of a local club, Partyzant Leszno.
When Lewandowski turned 9, he began his youth football career. He enrolled in Varsovia Warsaw youth system, training in adverse weather conditions on a dusty and sandy pitch which was also foggy. After spending 7 years at Varsovia Warsaw, he went on to Delta Warsaw. While he was at Delta, his father who nursed the hope of seeing his son play in the Bundesliga one day, died. He then moved in with his sister, due to financial challenges.
Lewandowski continued in top form and soon Legia Warsaw scouts came calling. He began playing for the club in the 2005/06 season and was in top form until he sustained an injury which led to Legia Warsaw backtracking on his contract extension. Lech Poznań (2008–2010)

Borussia Dortmund (2010–2014)

After appearing in three friendly games for the Polish U 21 National team, he debuted for the senior team in September 2008. He then went on to play for Poland in the Euro 2012. He captained his side to the 2014 World Cup qualifiers where they failed to qualified to the prestigious event.
